Instructor: Ella Bottom Rouge (Italy)
Date: Saturday, September 6
Time: 2pm – 3:30pm
Burlesque is, by definition, a live show where we need to show who we are and what we’ve got to say in only 5 minutes. But how do you tackle an ever diverse audience or – worse – when something goes wrong? How would Our Stage Personas react if they were alive?
Through impro and active listening, we will learn to own the stage in every possible scenario, while keeping it real
and consistent with who we are on stage.
The workshop is most suitable for those who already have some experience and is open to dancers, actors/actresses and
artistic performers of every kind. Key focuses of the workshop are:
•Walking in heels
•Our gaze
•Improv exercises
•Developing a performative Persona
About Ella Bottom Rouge:
Ella embodies the modern version of 1950s Italian divas. Her catchphrase – The Mediterranean Wave of Burlesque –perfectly captures her essence: voluptuous curves, caramel-coloured skin, cascading black curls, and the heady scent of wild jasmine.
She trained as an actress and director, and when she discovered burlesque, she was captivated. Ella honed her craft
with top national and international performers, and continues to do so, driven by curiosity and the need to evolve. Her style,
like a diamond with a thousand facets, has become an explosive mix of glamour and burlesque, with a touch of fetish
and a dash of comedy.
Ella stands out not only for her energetic style but also for her activism, which has quickly made her one of the most
prominent faces in the LGBTQIA+ community. She runs her own burlesque school, The Rouge Academy, dedicated to both art
and inclusion.
